Pastor Timothy, the leader of the Advent Christian Church of Myanmar, has asked for prayer for a trip that he is making to visit some of his churches in the Chin State and the Sagain Division from 23 March until the 23 April. He asks us to pray for safe travel, for opportunities to encourage the pastors and congregations as he fellowships with them, and that the Lord will provide funds for his travel costs.
One of the churches that he will spend some time with is the church in the hills of the Chin State (pictured at right), where Pastor Paul Tial Ceu ministered. Sadly, Pastor Paul fell asleep in the Lord in the evening of 27 February following two lots of surgery for stomach problems. Pastor Timothy’s comments were “We lose a great man. He preached the Gospel from village to village all the time until he died.” Pastor Timothy will spend time with his family and with his congregation as they mourn – please pray that his ministry will be a comfort and a blessing to them.
Advent Christian Missions New Zealand has had fellowship “at a distance” with the late Pastor Paul and his congregation and his village. In June 2013 we were able to send sufficient funds to provide every member of the village at that time (415) with a mosquito net, at a time when they were fighting an outbreak of Malaria. Then a little later, in late 2014, we were able to send funds to purchase a motorcycle for Pastor Paul. This was a great help to him as he travelled to visit his congregation members and to share the gospel in other villages, but in particular, he often used his motorcycle as an ambulance to take sick and injured people from his village to the nearest hospital when the only other alternative was many hours of walking.
