On 2 February, a new church building was dedicated to the Glory of God in the village area of Nallambakkam, 45 kilometres to the south of Chennai City in the Kanchipuram District.
The ministry at Nallambakkam was started during Miss Marion Damon’s ministry in 1998, and their first building, built with financial assistance from the Mission, was a thatched “shed” – a very simple building consisting of a concrete floor, with low concrete block sides and a thatched roof. A few years later the Mission assisted them again to build a larger shed, to accommodate the growing congregation and it continued to grow!
The church now has 80 members from about 25 families, and with the encouragement of the Area Pastor of the Agaram Then area, Rev S. Stephenson, who has always been interested in taking the Gospel to village areas and who is also the Conference Treasurer, the congregation has raised funds without help from the Conference and has built and paid for a new church building. Yesuway Jeevan Mission made a small contribution (10,000 rupees – NZ$215) to the building fund. The present pastor is Pastor Bernadjames.
Please thank the Lord for His provision of this new building and pray for Pastor Bernadjames and the congregation of the church as they seek to share the Gospel with the people in their area.
