Because of a recent very generous gift from a donor in the United States, we were able to send Shelter Trust a contribution towards the cost of constructing a further hostel building. This new building is being constructed a short distance from the original hostel and is necessary because of government regulations requiring the separation of living accommodation of boys and girls being cared for. The new building will accommodate the boys.
Rev Solomon Raj, the Director of the Shelter Trust wrote as follows…
“Greetings from Shelter Trust.
I take this opportunity to thank you for your prayers and support. This is a quick update about the happenings at Shelter.
1. We now have 45 children and 8 adults in our care. All the children are growing up and are studying in various classes. Five of our children are now pursing their Under Graduation. Most of them are enjoying good health and their CD4 count is on increase.
2. We seek your special prayers and support for Lakshmipathy Narayanan aged 12 (photo at right), who has been diagnosed with abdominal cancer which is spreading. He has been hospitalized for 1 week and the best possible treatment is being provided in tie up with Apollo Hospital which is one of the leading multi-specialty hospitals in India. Doctors are ruling out chemotherapy as the child is weak and may not withstand the rigors of the treatment. Kindly uphold him in your prayers.
3. The construction of the boys’ hostel building is progressing well and a few photographs are attached. Though the main structure has come up, the following major items are yet to be completed.
a. Plastering of the home
b. Flooring
c. Doors and windows
d. Toilets & plumbing
e. Electrical wiring & fittings
f. Whitewashing & paintingAll the children join me in conveying their wishes and are praying for you.
Looking forward for your continued prayers and support.
Regards
Solomon Raj
Director, Shelter Trust.”
