MYANMAR | Pastor David takes the Gospel to unreached areas

May 19, 2016 Filed Under: Newsletters, Newsletters | Myanmar, Pastor David's News

myanmar tagPastor David, leader of the Fellowship Bible Church of Myanmar and one of the leaders of the Advent Christian Conference of Myanmar and a group from his organisation recently returned from an outreach ministry trip to the Asho people in his home state, the Chin State.

The Asho are a sub-group of the Chin people. Unlike most of the Chin, who prefer to live in the hills and mountains, the Asho are people of the plains. They live mainly in the Tha Yet District of the Chin state. Estimates indicate that there are perhaps only 10,000 Asho speakers remaining in Myanmar (Burma). The Asho are neither Buddhist nor Christian. Uniquely among the Chin people, they remain animist. They sacrifice animals (including pigs, goats, dogs, chicken and buffalo) to appease evil spirits and to ensure the safety of their ancestors in the after-life. They worship but once a year and each village is required to bring at least a chicken, some rice and some wine to the ceremony.

Pastor David reported as follows…

“Greetings in the name of Jesus from Yangon, Myanmar.

It is great joy to report our ministry outreach evangelism. We reached 5 villages and shared the good news of Jesus Christ to unreached people group in Myanmar, the Asho Chin. There is no motor and we are going by foot and by cow.

Many people heard the good news of Jesus Christ and some accepted Jesus as their Savior and Lord.

Thanks for your prayer support for our ministry and please continue prayer for our ministry to win many lost souls to Christ’s kingdom. Thanks and God bless you.”

Pastor David’s organisation is also reaching out to the Kayah people, who live in the State of the same name, which is to the north-east of Yangon, adjacent to the border of north-west Thailand.

He recently reported as follows….

“Greetings and we are happy to report about our ministry here in Myanmar.

In our country thousands of people did not hear the gospel yet.

By the grace of God we reach the people of Kayah and the old lady heard the gospel in her life.
She is happy to know about Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

Please continue us remember in your prayers for us to win many lost souls to Christ’s kingdom and to fulfill the great commission of Jesus Christ here in our country. Thanks and God bless you.”
