Pastor Timothy has recently returned to Yangon after a trip to Hakha, the capital of the Chin State, where his organisation, the Advent Christian Church of Myanmar, has a branch church. He wrote as follows …
“I returned to Yangon yesterday. While I was in Hakha, I visited to some places.
I passed your gift 200000 kyats to central camp new Hakha for supply food. We bought 5 rice bags and provided 45 families at Pastor Manghit house (one family got 2.5 kg). 1 rice bag (24 kg) cost 55000k*.
Thanks to you and all donors.
My family offered 100000k to one Church member who lost house and land because of landslide.
The Government has plan to build new city at New Hakha for affected people.
Please pray for one Church member who lost house and land and continue to pray for water project for New Hakha.
I am sending you some pictures.
Tim – emergency relief worker”
*The cost of a 24 kg bag of rice in Yangon before the cyclone struck was about 16,000 kyats (about NZ$21 or US$13.60) but in Hakha is now 55,000 kyats (about NZ$72.20 or US$47).
