Report from Philippine Advent Christian Conference
Rev Efren Miranda reports as follows…
“The Filipino Advent Christian ministers and the delegates representing their respective local churches have recently convened at Iligan City on May 20-22, 2015. This biennial gathering has been called primarily to strengthen leadership resources as the conference endeavors the realization of its vision. Thus, this year’s theme was dubbed as ‘Building Healthy Leadership Towards Vision 20/20’. That is because we not only believe God is pleased seeing his people doing the task but he is more pleased when they do the task conforming to his standards.
Such was participated in by 125 pastors, church leaders and delegates, the first time ever that the convention attendance has exceeded a hundred.
The event was graced by the presence of the Asia Pacific Area Director in the person of Rev. Jefferson Vann who was the resource speaker illuminating from God’s word the very relevant theme. God’s message he brought was indeed noteworthy to the urgent need of the Filipino Advent Christians at present.
The delegates have enjoyed the privilege of worshipping God together, acting some relevant conference issues during the business meeting in the second day and the fellowship as the affair has culminated with an outing which have included sight-seeing of the historic Maria Christina Falls then a lunch fellowship and swimming at a pool.
This year’s gathering was hosted by the 5 member churches composing the Northwestern Mindanao District of the BPACCI namely; In Christ Glory Church, Iligan City-the venue, New Life Fellowship, Iligan City, Maranatha Christian Church, Clarin, Misamis Occidental, Naburos Advent Christian Church, Baliangao, Misamis Occidental and the newly opened outreach, New Life in Christ Fellowship, Zamboanga City.
The General assembly has decided to hold the 9th Biennial Convention in May, 2017 with the local churches in Davao comprising the Davao District as host.
An election for the new set of the BPACCI Council also highlighted the event. Members to sit in the Legislative Body for two years are; Rev. Efren Miranda, Rev Virgilio Pallo, Rev. Hermenigildo Mahinay, Rev, Melchor Jandayan, Ruth Graven, Corazon Tejano, Pastor Manuel Gawangon, Art Ranque and Pastor Mario Suan.
Those who were elected as members of the BPACCI Council then have met for an organizational meeting to choose from among them the Bishop who will sit for two years term. All have cast their votes in favor to Rev. Efren Miranda. Thus, he has to continue serving as the overseer of the Philippine conference. His third consecutive term shall commence from June 2015 up to May of 2017.”
