During one of my visits to Yangon, I had the privilege of spending some time with Pastor Samuel Kei Sum and his family and house church members. Rev Kei Sum is a church planter for Pastor Timothy’s Advent Christian Church of Myanmar.
He lives, with his wife Tha Tin Cer and two daughters and one son (pictured below), and ministers in one of the many very populous suburban areas of Yangon, where there is very high unemployment and where the standard of living of the residents is therefore very low. He has a special ability to minister to businessmen and those who are wealthier. He has no income other than that which he receives from his small group of members but was able to assure me that his Lord met all his needs as He had promised. He is very grateful for recent gifts sent from New Zealand.
As with most ministries in Myanmar, because of government restrictions on church buildings, he ministers from his very modest home and church worship meetings and activities are all carried out in his home (pictured). With the assistance of a translator I was able to spend some time with his little flock, encouraging them to continue in their walk with the Lord and assuring them that there are others around the world who are willing to pray for them and with them.
In recent months the group has been blessed to witness the baptism of new converts to Christ.
Please pray regularly for Rev Kei Sum and his little group of Christians as they shine for the Lord in Yangon.
