Greetings in the New Year from the Christian Mission. As we watch the news from the United States, I particularly, thank God for planting me in the winter in Thailand. Here in Nakhon Phanom, Our “very cold” is 60-65 degrees F. It brings back memories of being stationed in Minot, North Dakota 50 years ago. I remember being dressed in Arctic snow gear at 2 am, driving a front end loader to keep the hospital driveways clear. With the chill factor included it was about minus 40-50 degrees F.
We pray for all of you, that it will end soon and things can get back to “normal” if there is “normal” any more.
Our New Year’s program was a bit of a disappointment. This year we only had about 6 children from outside and no adults. Activities were completed by 9 pm, and by 9:30 pm all the children were on the way home. You can see from the pictures that it was quite cold.
Things were a bit slow on Sunday, but God did bless us in that for the first time in a long time there were more “adults” than “children”. Our definition of adults is 7th grade or older. 🙂
Continue to pray for Laobada. There is interest being generated and folks are starting to come.
January 5, 2014 the Christian Mission held its annual meeting. The plan and budget was approved by everyone. However, there is one problem. The budget and plan is much bigger than any of us can handle here, so we will be depending on prayers from everyone who reads this newsletter.
We have 9 people now enrolled in Correspondence Bible Study through an organization in Bangkok. Dtee started a couple of months ago and now 8 of our youth, including three who say they are non-believers are being enrolled and will start within a week or two. Dtee will be monitor and managing the program. Pray for him.
We are also planning on initiating a Discipleship Training Program next month. They will meet one day a week for instruction and discussion and problem solving for the Christian Mission. Pray for this group.
Pray for John and Maeo as they go for medical checks and prescription refills.
Thank you all and praise God for your support. God Bless, the Christian Mission Team
