Dear friends in New Zealand,
Praise the Lord for OBC enrolment this semester. We have 27 students officially enrolled; 23 are in classes and 4 are out on their internship. We have just celebrated the National Language Month as mandated by the Philippine government. OBC through the Filipino subject did a culminating program. The students in their Filipiniana attire with their teacher, Mrs. Josephine Gajudo. The students presenting their interpretative speech in Filipino Language.
August 26, we did not hold classes since the National Heroes Day which was originally scheduled on August 30 was moved to August 26 by the President. Instead, we declared it sports day for the students and faculty. Everybody in school enjoyed playing Filipino group games that are no longer played in the country. In the afternoon, we played volleyball and basketball. It was a day of relaxation and enjoyment after the midterm exams.
Pastor Pabling Molina did not renew his term as pastor of Maranatha Bible Church. He is going to work in the US for the needs of his family. The church has called Pastor Jess P. Gawangon as the new pastor starting September 1, 2013. He will still be teaching at OBC and finish the term for all the courses assigned to him, but his deanship for the Field Education is now given to Pastor Reniel M. Comajeg. I have taken back Pastor Reniel’s Academic deanship for the rest of the school year.

For the repairs of the buildings destroyed by termites; below are pictures of the areas before the repairs and after the repairs:
These pictures are of the offices on the first floor of the administration building and the chapel area only. These were the areas we first discovered the termite attacks on the building.

After the repairs, this is how it looks like now.
The pictures are of the chapel floors, the balcony, stairway, the cover to the business office, Finance office, the ceiling under the balcony, boys’ dorm hallway and ceiling, the main door first floor of the admin building, the doors to the first floor and second floor of the classroom building. The last picture is of the office of the spiritual life director, with a new post and cover painted.
Thank you very much for your support to OBC. These repairs have given the school building a new and encouraging appearance.
From the Field Education department, our church planting activities continue with our Bible studies and children’s ministry. OBC faculty with students lead Bible studies for adults and young people and teach children in the community outreach. As of this semester, there are already 65 children attending the classes. The students contribute towards the food that they prepare for the children to eat after their class. A friend of Pastor Reniel’s wife has started donating towards the feeding program for the children.
From left to right we see the adult Bible study, the children’s classes taught by first year students and Alma Cortes and then the feeding of the children afterwards. We praise the Lord for the family that receives the OBC ministry in the area. They have sacrificed to improve their home to accommodate the adults, the children and the students of OBC.
For our prayer needs:
