John’s Blog | Mothers’ Day

August 12, 2013 Filed Under: John's Newsletter, Newsletters, Newsletters | Thailand

tag_thailand_johnGreetings and Happy Mothers’ Day from Thailand. Christian Mission celebrated Mothers’ Day with 124 people in attendance. Laobada Church united with us. Things got started at 9 am with singing and worship and special singing from the elementary and high school students. The elementary students also did a play “The Three Little Pigs” in English and the high school students did a real-life play written by Lita.

Lita and Beem 2 talked directly to their mothers in front of the whole audience, telling their mothers what they meant to them.

Pan gave her personal testimony as to what Christ means to her and what her life was like before she met Christ and what it is like today. Her mother was there and heard it and we ask for prayers that Pan’s mother and father will give permission for her to be baptized.

Both the elementary students and the high school students put on special musical presentations and plays.

Another first for the Christian Mission – we had a quartet of elementary boys who sang a song to their mothers. Praise God and pray they will continue to come and grow and accept Christ.

We thank God that the Cheng Yuen High School volunteered to come and be a part of our celebration today. They sent their “small group” which consists of 10 band members and about 15 dancers. Originally scheduled to put on a 20-30 minute show, they performed for a solid hour. Needless to say our mothers and grandmothers really enjoyed this because this is the music they have grown up with and is a part of their lives. The highlight was the paying of respects to the mothers and grandmothers. There were 10-15 mothers/grandmothers that came without children, but there were plenty of volunteers.

Christian Mission was blessed in that Ploy, Eye, Milk and Dao showed up. The first three lived here for almost 3 years and Dao has been attending off and on since 6th grade – she is now in the university. We are also thankful that Bee’s mother was able to attend and spend a couple of days with her daughter.

Thank you for your continued prayers and support. It allows us to continue our work here and watch as God blesses and takes care of our children. God Bless, John and Maeo and the rest of the team here.
