On the evening of Sunday 21 July, the Convocation for the 2012 – 2013 (4th) session of the Advent Christian Discipleship Training Program was held at the Captain James Spence Memorial Hall at the Advent Christian Conference compound at Velachery, Chennai. A large gathering of families and friends of the graduates attended.
This training program is for lay members of the churches of the Advent Christian Conference of India and the Fellowship of Blessed Hope Churches. It consists of approximately 32 weekly lectures taught mainly by pastors from the two conferences, with assistance from a few visiting pastors and covers a wide range of Biblical, theological and practical subjects. It is designed to give lay people a broad overview and understanding of Scripture and practical matters involved in serving their Lord. The program is funded by Yesuway Jeevan Mission and Mission Manager Immanuel attended the convocation representing the Mission.
This year’s convocation saw 13 of the 14 students who graduated receive their certificates and those who gained the top three places in the end of year examinations also received prizes of appropriate spiritual books to the value of 500 rupees. All those who had been willing to teach also received books to the same value.
Please pray for this year’s 14 graduates, and those who have graduated from earlier courses, seeking the Lord’s blessing for them as they seek to use what they have learned to assist with the ministries of their churches and Conferences. Please also thank the Lord for those who have organised the course and those who have given their time to teach.
