Mission Manager Immanuel was recently invited to attend and participate as representative of the Mission at the dedication of a new church building at Nanmangalam – a suburb of Greater Chennai about 24 km to the south of the city centre and 13 km from the Guindy compound.
The Advent Christian Conference of India began ministry at Nanmangalam 60 years ago in 1953. The present congregation numbers 125 families (about 600) and the present Pastor of the church and Area Pastor is Rev P M Vijayaseelan who also holds the position of Conference Treasurer.
The construction of the new building has taken a long time – building started in 2007 and it has taken 6 years to raise the funds needed to complete the church. Total cost was 55 lakhs rupees (5.5 million rupees – approx. US$92,000) with 11 lakhs contributed by the AC Conference. The balance has been raised by the members of the church from those within the church family and from outsiders.
