Sunday 7 April was a day of rejoicing for many as baptismal services were held in four of the ACCI’s 73 churches in and around Chennai.
Mission Manager Immanuel was invited by Rev M G Baktha Singh to attend the morning service at his church at Perumbakkam when 10 people were baptised. One of those who followed their Lord through the waters of baptism was a lady who was 95 years old and who was determined to give public witness to her acceptance of Jesus Christ as her Saviour in her very old age.
As is the custom in ACCI churches, the baptisms were followed by the reception into church membership of the candidates, which was in turn followed by communion. Perumbakkam church is one of the larger churches in the Conference, with a membership of about 300 families – more than 1,000 individuals. More than 200 participated in the taking of communion. Immanuel presented each of those baptised with a new Bible.
On the same morning 30 people were baptised at the Thiruvanmiyur church; 5 were baptised at Chitlapakkam church and 7 were baptised at the Guindy church. Yesuway Jeevan Mission provided new Bibles for all candidates.
Praise the Lord for these 52 new members of the great, worldwide, Christian church and pray that each of those baptised will grow in their faith and in the knowledge of their Saviour and will be steadfast in service for Him.
