Please pray that John’s blood pressure will stabilise and the doctor will quickly get a combination of medications that works well for him. There were changes in Government policy making his usual blood pressure medicines unavailable in Thailand.
Update 6th January 2013
Blood work completed and doctor was waiting for me when I got there. One problem. I have to BP machines – a new one and an old one. We found the new one is running 15-20 points high, so while there still is a problem it isn’t as serious as we thought, maybe. Second, I have found out my diet is more important that I thought. Lack of energy – low potassium – Fruit, vegetables and fish were forgotten about for most of the holiday period. Eating oranges right now. There still is a problem with the blood pressure, but it now appears that I will just have to stay pretty close to bed rest until Tuesday and go to the doctor in Sakon Nakhon and let her play with the medications. My guess now is that the new combination isn’t as strong as the old combination and as far as I know now, she is only available at the hospital on Tuesday mornings and is one of the very few doctors that doesn’t have a moonlight clinic.
Pray that we can get this right with a minimum number of visits. Each visit is about an hour and 15 minutes one way. Thanks you all for your prayers and may God Bless, John
25th December
December 25 was spent at the hospital in Sakon Nakhon for what we thought were regular prescription refills. It appears that the hospital there has deleted four of the medications I was taking and the doctor is trying to find replacements. I started the new medications on Thursday, Jan 3, and it appears some of them are not agreeing with me. My blood pressure is jumping around and I have been in bed since Thursday evening (Jan 3), all day Friday (Jan 4) and Saturday until noon. I went to see a doctor I trust here in town at his clinic and he has ordered some blood tests and will get the results at 6 pm (it is now 3 pm). I can’t make contact with the doctor in Sakon Nakhon until Tuesday morning (Jan 8) so I am praying the doctor here can get things under control until then. Thank God Bee and the girls are handling the Saturday Children’s program and will conduct a Sunday Program as well – minus a sermon.
Currently, the blood pressure is bouncing around, but not critical yet, I have been sleeping most of the time with some nausea but no vomiting. I will try to send out another note after returning from the doctors office at about 7 pm or so. Thanks for your prayers and may God Bless, John
