Thailand | John’s Blog | Update on Maeo

October 15, 2012 Filed Under: John's Newsletter, Newsletters, Newsletters | Thailand

Thank you all and praise God for all the prayers over the last 2-3 weeks. God has truly blessed us and given me strength to get through it all.

Maeo has been home now almost 2 weeks. On October 8 we went to Sakon Nakhon, about 45 minutes from here, to see our regular doctor and get prescriptions refilled. She had also ordered a series of blood tests and urinalysis for Maeo. Everything for Maeo came out normal; so it appears that her physical ailments are pretty well cleared up. Her hypertension is within normal limits now, her blood tests were all okay. In my case, the doctor just smiled and sent me to get my shopping bag full of pills.

Maeo continues to say that she is too weak to get up and stay up for long periods of time, so she spends a lot of time in front of the TV. She continues to be depressed and very quiet and has little initiative on her own. This is a typical reaction of older Thais, at least around our villages here.

Please continue to pray for her that her healing will continue, even though it seems to be slow.

Our 24 hour a day, 5 day English Camp was completed this evening. All six girls completed the book with better than an 80% average. God has blessed me by letting me see them begin to have confidence in themselves and begin to accept responsibility. None of the girls thought they would complete the class, let alone pass, so I am extremely happy and thank God. Three of the six girls do not live here presently, but they are going to be talking to their parents over the weekend and see if their parents will give them permission to move in. These three have also not accepted Christ as of yet. That will bring us to 9 girls again. One girl will be moving back home October 17- her parents want her home to take care of her sister. Since she has accepted Christ, this will give her an opportunity to witness to her parents. She has said she will continue with the English classes and participate in our Saturday and Sunday activities here. Pray that Beem 2 will have the courage and desire to talk to her parents.

October 15-17 is VBS. we may have as many as 45-50 elementary students. Pray for the team conducting the program, and that the children coming will be receptive to the message.

October 15-18 we will have visitors from New Zealand and the US. Pray for their safe arrival, and that John will have the wisdom and the ability to introduce them to the Christian Mission.

Thank and Praise God that all the paperwork has been presented and approved for the establishment of our new organization. There has already been one new church planted, so we are now 6.

Again, thanks isn’t enough for all many of you have done for us here. On behalf of the kids and Maeo, thank you and may God Bless and keep all of you and may he give me strength and wisdom to stay the course and participate in the harvest. John and Maeo
