Greetings from the Christian Mission. At the moment we are waiting for 4 pm, Saturday, February 18. We have a team of 5 people coming in for 8 days to conduct a seminar on witnessing – Feb 20-24. Along with the team will be three women who will be working with our kids on Saturday and Sunday and in the evenings during the week. Please pray that all will go well. None of the team members speak Thai, and I am the only one around that speaks Thai and English. Pray for our teens – Bee, Pan and Nun. They will be doing the translating for the elementary program and I will try to do the translating for the seminar. Never a dull moment around God, is there 🙂
The last two weeks have been very busy for us here again. In addition to the activities of the Christian Mission there has been an English Camp February 11 with 800 elementary students and our team participating; in addition to that we have been visiting new schools seeking assistance from the Christian Mission and from the Thai, Lao Cambodia Brotherhood. I am their representative here in Thailand.
Our children are presently in the process of taking final exams. Schools will close – not all at the same time – sometime between February 24 and March 30. We are praying and preparing for DVBS sometime during that period; our students here will have summer school with me – English Math and Science in English; fitted in here may also be a 4 day summer camp in the mountains; that is still being discussed.
This is also the period we evaluate those who are receiving student assistance funds. The Christian Mission currently supports 10-15 students, including those who live here, and there are another 15 or so students being supported by the Thai Lao Cambodia Brotherhood. Pray for guidance for Maeo and I as we select students to receive assistance. There are always more students than funds, so sometimes it is a challenging process.
Pictures are attached from a variety of our activities. We ask for your continued prayer. It is the most important part of the program here. If it weren’t for your prayers, I am sure we would have closed our doors a long time ago. We operate on faith, and God has always provided beyond our expectations. We just can’t think big enough to understand all about God.
Praise God, our team has arrived and we are getting to know each other. More news and pictures will follow.
God Bless, John, Maeo and the kids and others.
