Dear Supporters and friends of the Advent Christian work in the Philippines.
It is hard to think that it is six weeks since last I wrote. Thank you once more for your continued support financially and in prayer for this work. I know that those in the Philippines really appreciate this partnership which we have with them.
Unfortunately, this month, I have only heard from two of the pastors who normally contribute.
PASTOR JONATHAN NAVACILLA, Banilad, Cebu, writes
“Here are some of the photos of our Basketball ministry and Baptism. We call a our basketball ministry as “Brother’s Keeper” . Last October 8, 2011, Saturday, we had our opening program for our evangelistic league. In this league we require every member of a team to attend weekly cell group meetings. 90% of the participants of this league are unbelievers. There are 48 players and we have 4 teams, which means we have 12 players each team, led by one or two cell group leaders. We aim for 40 candidates for the next scheduled baptism from this evangelistic league. The ones that are wearing blue polo-shirt are some of our cell leaders and staff for the Basketball League.”
Pastor Reniel Comajeg was also present.
“Last October 9, 2011, Sunday, we conducted a water baptism. We baptized 11 new believers.”
Some of these were contacts made by Demver Fuentes, the OBC intern who was assigned to work with Pastor Jonathan. Demver, along with all the other interns, has now returned to OBC ready for the second semester.
PASTOR ROY ROCHA, Novaliches, Manila, sent the following,
“Great is Thy Faithfulness”
We thank God that for the years of His Faithful favor in our church and ministries. New Life in Christ celebrates its 2nd year anniversary last September 25, 2011. We rejoice in the Lord because of His faithfulness in providing, protecting, healing, and saving people in our community.
Reaching people in all ages to bring them to Christ is our main goal. We started reaching the kids in the community by offering tutorial class for reading and writing. This is performed by our young people in our church, and the result is encouraging that many parent wanted us to start a kindergarten. We are praying to start kindergarten in our area.
Last August 30, We, celebrated our 6th month long cell group program of our church. Many have testified God’s goodness in their lives that brought by the changes in their personal walk with God. People were in tears as they testify.
Sept. 16, I was privilege to help a team in leading 130 young people here in Quezon City. I personally led 19 youth to Christ. It is always a great joy seeing people come to Christ especially the youth.I have ongoing Values class for the out of school youth program. 60 students are attending, all of them confessed to received Christ during one of our class. This coming October 2, they will be introduced to our church.
Sept. 17, we Baptized 7 new believers as product of cell groups ministry of our church. These are people living nearby our church. The glory of God is evident. In spite of the many challenges by the presence of the false cults, the church of Christ is still thriving. To God be the glory!
Truly we have reasons to celebrate the greatness of His faithfulness. The 2nd year anniversary went well, testimonies and special presentation were all inspiring.
I believe more still needs to be done in the work for Christ. The harvest is plentiful, many lives need to be reached and be changed by the power of the gospel. In order for me to keep doing, I need you to partner with me by supporting me in prayers and finances or whatever you think is best for you to help me.
