It is hard for me to believe that we are already into August and the year is already more than half over. There never seems to be enough time to get done all that there is to do.
The Christian Mission now has four separate English classes in progress. We have an advanced English class for the 8 students living at the mission, meeting Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sundays; a class of 12 – 6th and 7th grade students – with a 10th grade student added, meets Monday, Wednesday, Friday and sometimes on the weekends. These two groups form our team that goes out to village schools once a month to hold an English Camp. The 3rd class is 8 first year university students – English majors wanting to be teachers in 5 years. In many ways, this group is lower in knowledge of English than my 6th grade class. So it is a major challenge. The third group meets only on Saturday and consists of 4, 5, and 6th grade students who come to participate in our Saturday program for elementary students.
Praise God – Good News. We have had the wife of one of our interns accept Christ in the month of July and we have had one of our older teens accept Christ. Please pray for Mon and Bee as we prepare for baptism on September 4. In the meantime, I will be talking to all of the other teens and see where they are at. We have two boys who have accepted Christ, but up to now, parents will not allow them to be baptized. Pray that God will open the parents’ eyes and hearts and allow their children to be baptized.
August looks to be another very busy month. We are looking forward to celebrating Mother’s Day on August 14. We continue to have prayer group meetings at 7 am Monday-Friday and are now averaging 6 people attending. I will continue to teach English about 20 hours a month. Along with that, there is a plan in the works to expand our Saturday English Camps. We are praying about developing two teams and go out twice a month instead of only once. Please pray for strength, wisdom and guidance for this program.
Our interns will go back to their university for 5 days this month, so Maeo and I will be handling the whole program; prayers are needed for this also.
Maeo and I will travel to Khon Kaen August 28-30 for a variety of medical checkups. Pray for wisdom for the doctors as they check us out and pray that all is well.
Thanks for all of your prayer support and please continue. God Bless,
John and Maeo
