Greetings from the Christian Mission at Ban Naratchakwai. Greetings and prayers and thanks to God from John and Maeo.
August 12, 2011 in Thailand was and is Mother’s Day. It is the queen’s birthday, and as she is considered as the mother of all Thai people, her birthday is also Mother’s Day. The same applies for Father’s Day. December 5 is Father’s Day because it is the birthday of the king.
The Christian Mission celebrated Mother’s Day on August 14. The pictures you will be looking at this time were all taken during the festivities, including a church service. We had about 80 people in attendance – most of them mothers or grandmothers of children that are regular attendees in our Saturday and Sunday program. { Hover over the photos below to read the captions}
There are also some pictures of our “children” who live here with us at the mission. Not all had their pictures taken but some of them are there. The service started at 9 am with singing and praises to God during the first hour. The second hour was sermon talking about what God thinks of mothers and what children’s responsibilities are towards their parents.
The third hour had singing performances by our children and a Mother’s Day play – written by Ploy – one of our students here.
Seriously for a minute. One of our interns, Wassanee, gave us a letter yesterday saying she will not return to complete her internship here for the second semester. She has been having problems adjusting to the schedule here and has not been able to mix well with the adults or children. She was given an opportunity to make necessary adjustments, but didn’t feel she could do it – Her self-confidence is very low and she is not able to accept change unless she is the one making the changes. She was told that unless she could adapt, that she probably would not pass so she has chosen to leave us. Please keep her in your prayers, that she can learn to work with others as part of a team; that she will come out of her shell and join others and that she might find peace in her service to God.
August 20 will be another English Camp. Please pray for that.
Thanks and praise God that funds to support our students continues to come in.
Pray for strength and wisdom for John and Maeo as we work with the children.
Pray for these young people that they will see the light and accept Christ.
Praise and thank God we will have at least two people being baptized on September 4.
Thank you for your continued support both in prayer and in funds. God does continue to bless us here, even though it seems a bit slow for my impatient self. 🙂
Latest medical checks for both Maeo and I show that we are in pretty good shape for the ages we are. 🙂 We both need to get more exercise and eat the right foods, 🙂 But I guess that is like most everybody, isn’t it? God Bless, John and Maeo
