The Advent Christian church at CHITHALAPAKKAM, on the outskirts of Chennai in Tamil Nadu was started in 1928 by our missionaries. Its first ministry was a small prayer group held in a home. The first Indian Pastor for the church was Pastor Abisheganathan.
On 13 February 2011, Mission Manager Immanuel was invited to attend and preach at a baptismal service. The present Pastor is Pastor Simeon, and the Area Pastor is Rev M G Bakthasingh. The church building is small but situated on a large piece of land and the members have raised funds themselves for a compound wall around the land and for the construction of a parsonage for Pastor Simeon and his family.
On the Sunday that Immanuel attended to represent the Mission there were more than 100 believers in attendance and 8 brothers and sisters followed their Lord through the waters of baptism and were received into membership of the church. As has been our custom for many years, the Mission presented each of those baptised with a Bible. Immanuel preached on John 4: 1 to 14 with the title of his address being “Living water and who is great?”
After the service all present enjoyed a typical Indian “feast” and fellowship together.

Praise God for this church and its faithful ministry, and pray for the 8 new members as they begin their new lives of obedience and service.
