Please pray or our brothers and sisters in Christ in India who are still being persecuted because of their faith in Jesus Christ:
An Indian pastor in the State of Orissa (who is secretary of the Reaching Hand Society) and is in contact with Mrs Beryl Ching, recently reported to her as follows…
“I would like to appraise you of some troubling incidents that have been happening very close to where some of our missionaries work. From the 11th December 2010 till the 14th January 2011 there have been at least 7 incidents of attacks on Christians during the Friday, Sunday and Christmas services. This has resulted in over 100 Christians being injured (including, elderly women, pregnant women and children). Some of whom have had fractured arms and head injuries. The local law enforcement and the District administration have been pretty slow to act and in cases they did act it was too late. All these attacks have been in the villages where IMST works. Our fields are pretty close to their place and on a functional level we work closely with this movement. These attacks look systematic and pre-planned. Unless there is a miraculous intervention I anticipate this escalating to a major crisis. Will appreciate your prayers.
The stories heard from the women and people beaten up moves me to tears. The local pastor yesterday told me that when a couple of Koya ladies were asked as to why don’t you retaliate they responded staying “Pastor – retaliating will drive them further from Salvation, if it means that we are to be killed for them to know the truth – so be it”.
Pray that when we are put to the test we will stand faithful. Pray for protection and wisdom to deal with issues in prevention of such incidents and also for protection and wisdom when responding to such incidents. ”
