Thailand Update October 21th 2010

October 27, 2010 Filed Under: John's Newsletter, Newsletters, Newsletters | Thailand

Greetings to all of our Prayer warriors and supporters. I want to take the time to thank all of you for this year up to this point. The work God has done here at the Christian Mission during the past year has been unbelievable and could only have been done through God’s blessings and your support. As we come to the close of this year, we will be holding our annual meeting in December and planning for the New Year. During the first week in November we will be meeting with folks from Charlotte, New Zealand and Burma to develop some kind of plan for our area for the next year. Request your prayers for that.

Most of you know that we have taken on 7 “daughters” to help them through school. Five of them have been in an extra English Program at one of the local high schools, and another one enters today. In addition, we have invited another girl to come live with us. She is not a Christian but has major family problems at home and cannot live there. She is a first year student at the University of Nakhon Phanom and is majoring in English to become an English teacher.

Our 4 7th grade students have completed the first semester with grades above 3.5, and placed 1,2,5,9 in their classes. Our 10th grade EP Student completed the first semester with 3.41 GPA and number 11 out of 35. This is in competition with students who have been in this EP program for 3 years already. Another student, who was ready to give up and quit; changed schools and attitude and finished the first semester in the regular program with 3.89. She will be entering the EP program on October 21. Our special student is having major problems here at home, but finished with a 3.5 GPA.

Praise God, up to this point he has provided for everything and we give him all the glory and credit; but I am also looking forward to next year and am asking your prayers for:

Tuition: cost per student is about $1,000 per student per year

Additional School costs: about $100 per year

Food for 8 girls: about $300 per month

As I said, God has provided for all of this for the first school year and we praise him. He may provide in the same fashion for the coming year. The purpose of this prayer letter is to ask you to pray that God will raise up the people – as he ahs done this year – to continue the program for the next school year. Pray for the three students who are already Christians – OhAe, Amporn and Nun. Pray especially for the other 5 who have not accepted Christ as yet, but participate in all of our church functions – Pan, Ploy, Eye, Milk and Bee. Thanks, Praise God, and God Bless. John and Maeo
