There is so much to be thankful for this week I don’t know where to begin, but we will start with the kids :-). Last February when our girls first arrived, I told the 7th graders that the four girls would finish the first semester 1,2,3,4. This was used as a confidence boosting technique to get them started. They finished 1,2,5,9 which if the truth were known was way beyond what I really expected; however, God always answers our prayers better than we ask for, right? Our special child, Amporn, who we have been praying for regularly, finished with a 3.6 GPA out of possible 4. The icing on the cake, so to speak, however, was when she got back from her annual heart check this morning and the doctor said he doesn’t want to see her any more. Everything is perfect and working normally and he doesn’t need to check her. 🙂 Isn’t God Great?
Our 6th girl – changed schools because she was discouraged and wanted to get into an “easier” program, started this year with a lot of doubts. She ended up in the college track, event though she didn’t want to be there. Her semester ended with a 3.8 GPA and she no longer wants to get into an “easier” program. Our last student went from an easy track last year to the special English program this year. Her GPA came back 3.5 and number 11 in her class. At first she was disappointed because her grades were lower; but when we explained that the program she is in is about 3 times harder, she decided to stay. However, the greatest blessing to me is in an essay she wrote. In it she said, she has dreamed of being an airline hostess for several years so she could fly around the world and dress in “beautiful clothes”. However, she said in her essay than now she wants to be a school teacher just like “Dr. John”. Nothing more rewarding, is there? Further blessing is that the three older girls, who have accepted Christ, are not bashful about telling their friends that there is no way this could have happened without God.
Pictures attached to this newsletter are a typical Saturday around the Christian Mission. I didn’t get pictures of the Bible Study and music practice this morning and the food at noon; however; you can get a feel for the afternoon happenings. Those who sent videos, you can see them in action. Today started “Snow White” for the elementary students. The high school students view them regularly and are now writing summaries of the movies. Thanks and praise God for that.
The other pictures show the kids teaching and practicing for our Thai Classical Band. I have been praying for 6 years that this would happen, so please join me and pray that this time it is God’s time for it to happen.
We are also branching out – back in the pig business again, into mushrooms, still with the ducks, and our cow is getting along fine. Maeo wants a couple more geese as guards. After 6 years our first goose died a couple days ago. As I listen to the kids practice, I will close for now. Again, thanks and praise God for all of you who support us with your prayers and finances. None of this would happen without you; and we are praying to grow stronger and branch out even more.
Love and God Bless, John and Maeo
PS. Please pray for us as our VBS starts tomorrow. We expect 30-40 kids visiting us.
