Greetings to friends and supporters of Advent Christian ministries in India, Myanmar, Thailand and Malaysia.
Thank you very much for your prayerful support and for your financial support. Because of this support, witness to God’s wonderful plan of salvation in Jesus Christ continues to be shared by wonderful men and women of God who often serve faithfully under very difficult circumstances.
Word from MYANMAR (Burma) is that some of those who had Dengue fever have improved, but others have contracted the disease. The children have been worst affected, but one of the leaders tells us that all members of his family have had or presently have the fever.
Let me use the recent words from one leader to give you a view of their ministry…
“Greetings in Jesus name and I am so happy to report our ministry activities here in Myanmar. This month all of family members are sickness. But God is good and helping us in our family and now we are better from our sickness. We praise God for healing us. In my orphanage home all the children are also sick and by the grace of God some are better from sickness now. {photo coming soon}
The Lord makes us enlarged His kingdom throughout our home Church and by the grace of God our Church members are increasing always. Our Church Planter, Pastor (name deleted for security) succeeded in his home Church at (place name deleted for security)
We have women prayer group every first week of the month, and many women were blessed.
For this month the Lord teaches me helping people and encouraging believers. My prayer request to you is to have leadership skill in my life so that I may serve the Lord for expanding His kingdom in Myanmar.
As you know about military junta in our country did not allow worship service and evangelism. We were and are doing secretly and worship in home.
Once a week on Friday we have fasting and prayer meeting for our ministry in Myanmar and international partner ministry.
(a). We were going to outreach evangelism among Buddhists.
(b). Our home church in (place name deleted for security).
(c). Home Cell groups in our ministry.
(d). We have pre-school children ministry in village.
(e). We distributed Christian small booklets to our ministers.”
We are very grateful and pleased to advise that the ladies of the Central Region Women’s Home and Foreign Mission Society in the United States have agreed to make the provision of bore-wells and ancillary equipment to ensure good water supplies for our workers in Myanmar their project for the next three years and they have sent a substantial gift already. One well has already been completed and planning for more is underway. Join with us in thanking the Lord for this wonderful support from these ladies
Please continue to pray for our AC workers and all Christian workers in MYANMAR (Burma). Pray especially for the restoration of democracy in that country. This would not only allow the Gospel to be shared in freedom but would lift the oppression that all the people of the country endure under the present regime.
John and Maeo Middlewood in THAILAND rejoiced recently at the baptism of two of their teenage members, and the acceptance into membership of the Christian Mission Naratchakwai (CMN) of these two and a further two young people who have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour but were not able to be baptised because of opposition from their Buddhist parents.
John and some of his older teenagers continue their extensive teaching of English in many primary and secondary schools in the area. Please pray for good health and wisdom and patience for all involved in this very valuable ministry to the young people of the area.
John asks that anyone who has old VHS Disney movies or other videos suitable for children to make contact with him (through me if necessary) as he is able to use these in his English teaching program for the children.

There has been interest expressed by some for the arranging of a WORK/TEACHING TEAM to visit Naratchakwai later this year or early next year. The thought is that a parent and teenage child/children could go together and either be involved in John Middlewood’s English teaching program and/or assist with painting and light maintenance tasks around the CMN compound, and of course be involved in fellowship with the young people of the church and participate in their regular ministries. The English teaching program is very basic and no formal teaching qualifications are necessary.
If you have any interest in joining this team, and experiencing first-hand life at a Mission station, please contact Garry Schache for more details. (Phone 9 299 6231 or email garry@acconz.org.nz)
Please continue to pray for the leadership meetings at Naratchakwai planned for November, when Advent Christian leaders from several countries in the area will meet with ACGC Executive Director Rev Ron Thomas and World Outreach Director Rev Tim Fox and myself to fellowship and discuss outreach plans for the future.
Further to my special prayer request dated 4 August, I ask that you continue to pray for the situation in INDIA. The court case brought against Mission Manager Immanuel and two of the leaders of the Fellowship of Blessed Hope Churches (President Rev Prabu Manuel and Treasurer Rev Regi Christopher) by a group of “rebel” pastors from the Fellowship led by the Secretary, will be back in court in Chennai on Wednesday August 18 after defence affidavits were presented on Tuesday 10 August and a continuance was granted for the plaintiff’s lawyers to examine the new material.
This sad situation is not only very stressful for all those involved, and brings disruption to the usual activities of all concerned, and will be very costly financially. Most importantly it is a very poor witness on the part of the “rebel” pastors and will undoubtedly bring dishonour to the Name of our Lord.
Please pray for Immanuel, Prabu Manuel and Regi Christopher (left to right below) and their families.
Please also pray for the lawyers who are acting for us – Ravi Paul, who is a Christian brother, has acted for the Mission for many years and he has obtained the assistance of a colleague, Advocate Achuthan, who specialises in Society law. They will be appearing with Immanuel and the other two leaders, in court on the 18th August
Please pray also for the sale of the land at Guindy, jointly owned by the Advent Christian Conference and the Mission. With the formal agreement with the AC Conference now signed we need to find a suitable buyer for this very valuable land – a buyer who can make payment in one lump sum, of what is a very substantial amount of money – the equivalent in Indian rupees of many millions of NZ dollars. Because of the location and area and zoning of the land, there are many interested buyers but there probably will not be many who can find the money in one lump sum at one time. But with our God ALL things are possible – please pray for the right buyer at the right time with the right amount of money available!
Thank you once again for your faithful prayer for and partnership in the ministries in South Asia. God bless!
