SSE Asia Prayer Points September 2010

August 30, 2010 Filed Under: Prayer Points, SSE Asia Prayer Points

PHILIPPINES: Pray for the Walsh family that each of them would know your hand on them as they near the end of their time in the Philippines

PHILIPPINES: There are at least two Pastors needing replacement motorbikes (One bike was stolen the other is dying) so that they may more effectively fulfil their ministries. Pray that they will be able to find the necessary funding.

(September 16 – 17th) PHILIPPINES: Pray for the OBC Foundation Activities being held that it would bring honour to God’s Name and be a time of fellowship and testimony.

PHILIPPINES: Give thanks that the work at Indahag has a few extra months to find an alternative place to worship. May the Barangay captain be able to help in this regard.

PHILIPPINES: Pray for the work at Macanhan that Pastor Benjie Ragas would be encouraged as he ministers there amongst a transitory population. Give thanks that there are new people coming into the fellowship there.

MYANMAR: Please continue to pray for quick and complete recovery for those in the Advent Christian Conference of Myanmar – adults and children – who have contracted Dengue fever. Give thanks to the Lord for some children who have recovered well.

MYANMAR: The ruling military junta has announced general elections for the country – the first for more than 20 years – for November 7th.

The elections are the final step in the junta’s so-called ‘roadmap to democracy,’ a seven-step program for shifting from 50 years of military rule. Commentators say that the elections are a ruse as the 2008 constitution that the junta dictated guarantees that 25% of the Parliaments’ seats will go to the military. Please continue to pray for true democracy to be returned to this country by the removal of the junta.

THAILAND: Praise the Lord for the baptism of two teenage girls, and the acceptance into membership of these two and two further girls who have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour but were not able to be baptised because of opposition from their Buddhist parents. Pray that these new sisters will grow spiritually and that their witness to their parents and wider families will make it obvious that the Lord’s presence has changed their lives dramatically.

THAILAND: There has been interest expressed for the sending of a WORK/TEACHING TEAM to visit Thailand later this year or early next year. Parents and teenagers would be involved in John Middlewood’s English teaching programme for children and young people and/or light maintenance work around the compound. Pray that there will be enough firm enquiries to ensure that this Team goes ahead.

INDIA: Please continue to pray for the situation in the Fellowship of Blessed Hope Churches in Tamil Nadu, where there has been a  serious split in the ranks of the pastors. Pray for the 10  “loyal” leaders – that they may stand firm in their commitment to the Lord’s ways and precepts and for the 13 “rebels” – that the Lord will change their hearts. Pray that somehow the Lord  will bring unity in the organisation.

INDIA: Pray for wisdom, patience and safety for American Advent Mission staff in Chennai – Mission Manager Immanuel, Office Clerk Deveraj, Driver Rajan, Gardeners/Handymen Joseph and Daniel, and all their families.  “Unrest” over financial/land matters in both the Advent Christian Conference of India and the Fellowship of Blessed Hope Churches make the situations difficult if not dangerous at times for Mission staff. Pray also for Lawyer Ravi Paul as he advises Immanuel about many matters.

MALAYSIA: Pray for Ruth Devairakkam and her husband Wilfred as they minister to their small group, and reach out to many others on a one to one basis . Thank the Lord for many people who come to their house for prayer, and for the hospital visitation they are doing regularly. Thank the Lord that some contacts have expressed interest in attending their church services. Pray that the Lord will grant them fruit for their labours.
