Thailand Update July 5th 2010

July 14, 2010 Filed Under: John's Newsletter, Newsletters, Newsletters | Thailand

Happy Birthday to the USA and greetings from Thailand. June has been a very, very busy month for us here and it looks like it will continue into July. Maeo and I visited more than 35 schools last month as part of the work with the Thai Lao Cambodia Brotherhood group that we work with.

Along with that we delivered Soup of Love to one preschool and one elementary school serving about 250 students and had a great time.

Saturday and Sunday continued as usual however the crowd seems to be a bit smaller. It is the beginning of the rice planting season and many of the children are in the fields Saturday and Sunday from daylight to dark helping their parents plant rice.

Our 7 teens continue to progress in their schooling. Of course they are not going as fast as I would like them to; but I have to be honest and say that they’re trying much harder than I thought they would and so I am happy with their progress. We have lost one, but another replaced her before she had moved out. Ae has decided that her boyfriend is more important that God in her life right now, so we ask for prayers.

Saturday, June 26 was our Youth Rally. We had 12 from our church go to join the group of about 120 at a church in Nong Khon Kaen, about an hour and 20 minutes from our church. Of course, after all that traveling back – and a detour to a supermarket – the children were hungry so we just had to go to an all you can eat buffet before we ended up at home about 7 pm J

God continues to meet our needs here and we thank and praise him for the support we receive.

On a serious note, I just received an email from Ernie Schache in New Zealand that a strong brother in Christ went to sleep in Christ July 4, about 7:30 pm after a long illness. David Burge leaves a wife and eight children as well as other relatives and many, many friends. For those who do not know him, he was a powerhouse in the Advent Christian Denomination in New Zealand and will be sorely missed. Please pray for his wife and family.

Thank you and may God Bless and keep each one of you. John and Maeo
