The Yin peoples of Shan state in Golden Triangle

1. Location: Yin land is located in the areas of Shan state. They live in Pin Lon, Laichar, LoiLem, MoeNae, Namt San areas of Shan state and Namt Mai Khon, BawTake of Kayah state in Golden Triangle.

2. Population: About 400000 over Yin live in Golden Triangle. Sometimes called, "The forgotten peoples".

3. People: The Yins belong to the mongoloid stock of the Tibeto-Burman family. The four territorial groups namely, YinNet, YinKyam, YinTalet, YinBow form the people called "Yin". The Yins are independent, ethnic people group by themselves.

4. Languages: The Yin people speak the Yin language and some can speak Shan language.

5. Literacy: (0%) There is no literacy, but only have languages.

6. Economy: Yins spend their lives looking after cattle. The cattle are their wealth, and are precious to them. Some poor Yin has no cattle and little cultivation. Most Yin people are farmer and work hard and get little human resources. Most Yins grow crops of grain and vegetables. Sowing takes place after the first rains in April, and harvest comes in October at the end of the rainy season.

7. Housing: Yin homes are made of bamboo and thatch, some kinds of leaf with grass roofs . Each family has a few pots, house utensils. The houses are uncomfortable.

(a) Drink: The Yin drink is a rice beer called Ayem. This was the origin of alcohol, which plays so large an apart in all village feasts and merrymaking. They said that their god (Nat-Demon) like alcohol so much.

(b) Tobacco: All Yins are smokers, both men and women. When other people visit to Yin village they provide alcohol, tobacco as hospitable to them.

(c) Animals: Mithuns, cows, pigs, dogs, cats, pigeons and chicken were the domestic animals reared by the Yins.

(d) Food: The Yins grew all their food and made their own clothes. Rice was the main crop, followed by tobacco cotton.

(e) Marriage: Marriage was either arranged or steal. Which way it was, the bride price was 3 litre of alcohol. 3 litre of alcohol was given to the bride's family. They get Marriage between ages 12 and 13 ages.

8. The Chief: The chief is the head of the village; he is the leader in war, the owner of the village lands, the protector. Chiefs have full power of control over their village.

9. Education: There is little development in education. They can not read nor write. Most of them live in jungle villages where there is no school. The reason of the lack of education is that sometimes no easy to share about Christ to them. Whatever we go for outreach there must be an interpreter. For most people will not even talk to us.

10. Transportation: Little development is there. There is no bus transportation in the most villages. Transportation systems are done by human strength, some of them walk on foot when travel from village to village. To reach Yin village, we take three days or four days else by foot.

11. Working: Children Mission to village people takes on many forms and shapes. Working children are children who work full-time and therefore are not in school. The most Yin children are not in school. Many times, even when we persuades them not to move by granting primary school for their children, in ignorance for their children's future they will still deny it in fear of laboring for the school. They need the one who can help and care their education show the way to Christ.

12. Villages: There are 25 Yin villages in Namtsan areas of Shan sate and 150 over Yin villages in Golden Triangle. Many villages in Shan state are located in deep jungles where malaria is rampant, it is difficult for evangelists to go and preach the gospel to them. The Yins in Golden Triangle have never had the Bible in their own dialect. They are so poor people - poor in spiritual life, poor in domestic life, poor in social life, poor in education - they are poor in poor.

13. Religion: Beliefs of the Yin about god The Yin practice demonic, animism and witchcraft. When we share about Jesus Christ to them, they said, it is the first time to hear about the word of Jesus Christ. The demonic altar kept in each home is well maintained. The Yins believes as demon as real their god.

(a) ways of worship: The Yin believe that life and health, good demon and bad demon. They did not know about after death. They believe that good demon provides good things and bad demon provides bad things. They seek these things by prayer and sacrifice.

(b) way of sacrifice: The Yin offer sacrifices for a variety of reasons, for example; for the coming of rain in the spring-time; for recovery from illness; for the protection of the people. There are monthly sacrifices and one time in a year. They sacrifices alcohol (5) litres, some rice and fish to demon in monthly, and 3 red chicken or any of pig to demon in one time a year. They believes their god adore alcohol (drugs). They fear demon and believe that can kills them and make alive them. Anything of problem that come to them, they sacrifices something as soon as possible to demon. They believed in the gods that abode in rivers, pools, lakes, big trees, rocks, mountains, and so on, which could cause many undesirable diseases, even causing death.

Praise the Lord with us.

1. We reach 2 villages in this month of September with the salvation of Jesus Christ - 100 houses in one village and 36 houses in another village. There are 1000 population in one village and 155 populations in another village. We do evangelism house to house and share about the salvation of Jesus Christ. We pray for those who need healing, free from alcohol, slavery from demonic.

2. 73 Yin people have confessed that JESUS is their Savoir and their Lord and accept as personal their Savoir. It was our living God that open the heart of Yin people as well as so hard to get these Yin people into Christ.

2. Pray for social life, and their children of future education.

3. Pray for the children of Yin. The most Yin children are not in school. They get marriage in ages of between 12 ages and 13 ages.

4. Pray for more outreach to do among the people of Yin.

5. Pray for us for reaching the Yins people and the next 2009 year we are plan to reach 10 villages of Yin people with the salvation of Jesus Christ. Pray that the Lord will open the way for us and bring many Yins soul to God.

6. Pray for 400000 people of Yins for their salvation of eternal life. They are called "the forgotten people". Some chin Christians has done some work among them, BUT only a small beginning has been made. Much evangelistic and literary work is yet to be done. There are still many groups in Golden triangle to be reached more effectively by the power of the Gospel. To make the motto "Golden Triangle for The Word (Christ)" a reality, full consecration will be required.

Opposition to Baptisms

Christians Asked To Leave Rental House

Saturday, 28th June 2008 -- Myanmar

Dear [Brothers & Sisters]

Pastor J ask me to inform you humbly and with respectfully.
Pastor J told me that you all have praying for us for yesterday baptism services. This is how the Lord led us: we ask to one of brother pastor to do baptism services, but he fear the police to perform this services. One again we ask to Pastor J. Firstly Pastor J pray for four new convert and share about why did we need to baptized in water (Romans 6:3-7, Matthew 28:19-20) then four brother was baptized by one of our brother. After baptized what their heart said:
They want to follow and serve the Lord as much as they can. One woman said,
"I will proclaim the Gospel to my relative firstly". One blind man said, "Even thought I am blind man, but I can do everything through Jesus Who given the power. Amen". Please praise with us.

Then 5:00 pm, the owner of the house of relative came to us, to move [to] another house. They said that "Our god bless this wall and waters, but you people use this wall and waters Christian evil for curse. We do not know Jesus, we do not believes Jesus." They force to rent another house. "You make our wall, waters and house for hell and dirty".
But we do not say anything to the house owner's relative. We are safety because that time the house owner did not come.

We ask [Agent] to send you the photos: (click to enlarge)
