Prayer | Thailand, Christian Mission Naratchakwai

John Middlewood asks for prayer for his wife Maeo’s health please.
Maeo went to have some dental work done on 6 December and the dentist would not do the work because of her very high blood pressure. Maeo has been prescribed medication for two weeks to try to reduce the blood pressure. Please pray that this treatment may bring a quick and complete recovery.

Thailand | Thankful

You can look at the link and see why we are thankful here in Nakhon Phanom. While we have had 8 or so feet of rain, it runs off quickly. This will let you see where it goes from here. Something like over 60 of the 76 provinces have been affected; some more and some less; the fate of Bangkok is still unknown. If they can get through to the end of the month, things may be okay; but there is still more rain forcast. Please pray for us here.  God Bless, John

Rejoice with us

Thailand – Christian Mission ban Naratchakwai
Rejoice and thank the Lord with John and Maeo Middlewood.
John reports that the Saturday English teaching Camps that they present at many elementary schools in his area have become very popular and they are booked up for several months in advance. Pray for John and Maeo and their team of girls who conduct and teach at these camps.
John also reports that as a result of the Camps and the witness of those who conduct them, he has been asked to present a two hour session at two separate elementary schools on the history of our Creator God! John says…”This is a door we have been praying about for eight years now. Pray God will give me the wisdom to use the opportunity to his best advantage and many more schools will wish the same thing. Thanks for your continued support – prayers first and financial second The programs here would not go without them.”

Please pray for God’s blessing on John as he prepares and presents these sessions – this could mark the beginning of a turn to Christianity in the area.

Prayer | Thailand | Tornado damage

John Middlewood asks for prayer for the pastor and members of one of the churches in Nakhon Phanom that he partners with – the church at Kusakoi. A tornado struck the building recently, completely removing the roof of the kitchen. The rainy season has just started and it is imperative that it is replaced quickly. Cost for materials is around US$500 (NZ$635) and the members will do all the work. Please pray that the Lord will provide.

Thailand | Prayer Request

On March 26, 2011, one of our 6th grade students Lita was left homeless with her mother, father and younger brother and grandmother. It appears that there was an electrical short – not unusual in Thai houses – the house was made of dry wood with lots and lots of stuff piled around that burned immediately. Some folks said the house was gone within less than 15 minutes. The house was consumed totally, along with the rice storage building – including about 100 bags of rice which would have been the family’s food supply until the next harvest in September or October. The Christian Mission has provided some emergency food and it looks as though Lita will move in with our girls temporarily. Our prayer is that this will be used as an opportunity by God to show his love through his people to provide additional support for the family. Immediate needs will be for food and clothing; future needs to assist in rebuilding the house if that is what they want to do.

Thank you for your prayers.

John and Maeo.

Christian Mission Naratchakwai Thailand | Prayer

In a recent newsletter John Middlewood asked for prayer as follows:

Pray for our 7 English Program students living here. It will be final exam time in a little over a month and many decisions have to be made:

First, who will continue for next year?

Second, do we add new 7th grade students?

Third, what happens during summer break?

We have a mountain camp, our own DVBS; at least one special trip for our live-in kids; special tutoring for next year – last year the kids spent their summer living here and going to school 6-8 hours a day for most of the break. Personally, I am praying they decide to do the same thing this year; but it is very hard on them emotionally.

Pray that the young people will make the right choices.

Praise the Lord that we have had an increase of about 6 in attendance – children are starting to bring their friends and they are enjoying it on Saturday and Sunday. Please pray that parents will continue to let their children come when they get more serious about Jesus.

Amporn

Special prayer for Amporn whose mother refuses to release her from the spirit spell she has put on her, and she is back with us, or God provides another method of release for her so she can have peace and happiness and be a servant of God as she wants to be.

Pray for Miss Bpun, one of our long, long time children, who disappeared about a year ago, and who is back again. She has accepted Christ, but cannot proclaim it at home because of problems that would come up; however, three of her younger sisters are now coming to church also. Bpun is in grade 8, which is an especially difficult time for our young people.

Nun

OhAe

Special prayers for OhAe and Nun as they go out to visit our teens who are lost and wandering around in the dark. Bpun is the first result – Nun has been talking to her for a few weeks already. There are at least 8-10 other teens of ours out there wandering lost.

We request prayers for Nong, one of our first members here.

Satan has won the battle for the moment in her life. Her family and relatives are all spirit worshipers and have had problems over the last several months, including the death of her father. Her mother is one of the spirit leaders in this group. Nong has moved away from Christ for a year or so now. Today she came to withdraw her membership at the Christian Mission. Her family and relatives have blamed her and her attending church as the cause of all of their problems. It seems as though a fortune teller told the family the father would die within 3 days and he did. Since that time Nong has been carrying a load of guilt for her father’s death. The relatives, family and particularly mother have convinced her the only solution is to renounce God and Christ and she has chosen that route. She was also told that the spirits would kill her mother if she did not renounce God. [Read more...]
