VACATION BIBLE SCHOOLS
As annual summer school holidays have started or will soon be starting in countries in Asia, please pray for preparations going on for Vacation Bible Schools. Pray especially for the teachers who spend a great deal of time and effort preparing and teaching. Pray that many children will respond to the  lessons and commit their lives to the Lord Jesus.
Thailand: Christian Mission ban Naratchakwai are holding their VBS from April 4 to April 6. Their VBS is “live-in” at the Mission compound and about 50 to 60 children and young people from  5 churches in the area will be participating. Some of CMN’s teenagers will be teaching the  lessons on the story of Ruth – three chapters in Thai and the same three chapters in English.
India: VBS will be held in the 73 churches of the Advent Christian Conference of India and the churches of the 10 loyal pastors of the Fellowship of Blessed Hope Churches during the first week of May. Preparation of lesson material and training of teachers will be going on during April. Many churches in India provide six full days of lessons, games and other activities and meals for the week of VBS.

PRAY FOR HEALING
Premalatha, wife of Pastor Peter, pastor of the Fellowship of Blessed Hope Churches congregation at Gobichettipalayam (Gobi) in Tamil Nadu, has been unwell for some considerable time and has recently been diagnosed as having serious heart problems. Tests are still going on to ascertain the precise nature of her illness, but it is fairly certain that heart surgery will be necessary. This poses a major problem for them, both in respect to the seriousness of Premalatha’s condition and the huge cost for the surgery – there is no financial help available from the government in India and the total cost must be borne by the patient and her family. Please pray for accurate diagnosis and for the provision of necessary funds for whatever treatment is necessary.
Please also pray for Peter – he is one of the 10 FBHC pastors who have remained loyal and because Gobi is a long way from Chennai where the other 9 loyal pastors are based, Peter has been and is under considerable pressure from the rebel pastors. He and his family have been threatened on many occasions. Pray for their safety and for peace of mind in this new medical crisis.

SSE Asia Summary Prayer Points March 2011

INDIA: Thank the Lord for many great reports and expressions of appreciation from Mission partners in India concerning the special gifts we sent for their children for Christmas. The generosity of Kiwi donors brought joy to many disadvantaged children and adults. Thank the Lord for all who assist Advent Christian ministries in Asia financially.

INDIA: Continue to pray for the sale of the land at Guindy. With an upturn in the economy in India we now have three very serious enquiries. Pray for wisdom and patience for Immanuel and lawyer Ravi Paul in Chennai and for leaders in New Zealand and the United States as we seek to finalise the deal as soon as possible and make the right choice.

INDIA: Praise the Lord for 8 baptisms in the Advent Christian Conference church at Sithalappakkam in mid February. Immanuel spoke at the service and gave a Bible provided by the Mission to each candidate. Praise the Lord for new members of His great worldwide family. Pray for Pastor Simeon as he pastors the church.

INDIA: Continue to pray for the 13 rebel pastors from the Fellowship of Blessed Hope Churches – that they will see the error of their actions and activities and attitudes against the Mission and the legitimate officers of the Fellowship. Pray especially for the wives and children of the rebels as they will be suffering because of shortage of income. Pray that the wives may influence their husbands to cease their rebellious activities.

THAILAND: Continue to pray that the Lord may lead many from New Zealand and the US to join the Work/Ministry/English Teaching TEAM – project GEN12:1 – to go to Naratchakwai, North East Thailand in late December 2011 – early January 2012. We are hoping that many Parent/Child duos/groups will join the TEAM. Consider if the Lord would have YOU go or perhaps assist financially those who do go.

MYANMAR: Praise the Lord for this report from Pastor D….”I am so happy to send you our ministry outreach and relief work in January. God is good all the time for us and we are working hard for the kingdom of God in Myanmar as much as we can. We are nothing but God is with us and strength us for his ministry till today. Through our ministry many people hear the good news of Jesus Christ here in Myanmar now. Thank you so much for your partner with us in your prayer and financial for our ministry.”

MALAYSIA: Ruth and Wilfred report “Recently we had a Holy Communion service. Two Portuguese ladies came along with our contacts for this service.Food was served after the service. We are in touch with those who attended the Memorial service for the 83 year old lady [in December]” Continue to pray for Ruth and Wilfred as their ministry touches people from many nations and other faiths on a one to one basis.

THAILAND: John and Maeo Middlewood are seeking to employ a Thai Bible College graduate for a year on an internship. Pray that the Lord will give them wisdom as they decide and will provide the funds for the wages and cost of board. Pray also that the person of the Lord’s choice may be willing to continue in the ministry on a more permanent basis at the end of the internship.

MYANMAR: Praise the Lord for a generous gift which will buy a diesel generator for one of the groups within the AC Conference. Pray that the Lord will touch others to give similarly. Pastor K asks prayer that the Lord will provide funds for another years rent – he says “The house rent will be expired at the end of March. To be able to continue, we need to pay at the end of March for one whole year at once. We have nothing, though God will not allow us to stay on the street with His love children [the10 orphans he cares for in his home]. Therefore, please do remember us in your prayer time.”

SSE Asia Prayer Points February 2011

INDIA: Continue to pray for the sale of the Guindy property. We have very strong interest from the largest property developer in India – DLF. Pray that they may be the Lord’s choice and the deal may be concluded soon.

INDIA: Thank the Lord for his answer to our prayers for the time Immanuel and Rani were in New Zealand in January. Every thing was quiet on the “Guindy Front” and Immanuel and Rani enjoyed the complete break from recent pressures. They enjoyed very much meeting the members of the Missions Prayer group which meets every 6 weeks.

INDIA: Pray that the appeal against the Court Injunction brought by the FBHC rebel pastors may have been decided in the Mission’s favour – it was due to be heard in late January. Continue to pray for the rebels and their families – that they will see the error of their actions and activities and attitudes against the Mission and the legitimate officers of the Fellowship of Blessed Hope Churches.

INDIA: Pray for the leaders of the two Indian AC Conferences – Rev Moses Barnabas, President of the Advent Christian Conference of India and Rev Prabu Manuel, President of the FBHC. They will be seeking visas to attend the ACGC Triennial Convention in June in Charlotte, USA. Pray that they may be granted.

THAILAND: Continue to pray that the Lord may lead many from New Zealand and the US to join the Work/Ministry/English Teaching TEAM to go to Naratchakwai, North East Thailand in late December 2011 – early January 2012. We are hoping that many Parent/Child duos/groups will join the TEAM. Consider if the Lord would have YOU go or perhaps assist financially those who do go.

MYANMAR: Two of the Myanmar leaders are planning outreach and evangelism in new areas early in this year. Pray for Pastors David and Timothy and their co-workers as they travel and minister to the spiritually needy in their country. Continue to pray for democracy to come for all in Myanmar.

SSE Asia Prayer Points January 2011

INDIA: Please keep Mission Manager Immanuel and his wife Rani in your prayers in early January as they have a holiday break after what has been a very stressful year for them. Pray that there will be no crises while they are away. Pray also for the person “holding the fort” while they are away.

INDIA: Please continue to pray in regard to the legal actions brought against the Mission and some FBHC officers by rebel FBHC “pastors” and in regard to an appeal lodged by the Mission after an unfavourable decision. The Court/justice system in India works very slowly and often corruptly!

SSE Asia: Praise the Lord for a very generous donor in NZ who is giving substantial, monthly gifts to be used to help underprivileged children in India, Thailand and Myanmar. Substantial amounts were remitted in time to give children in all three countries extra help/treats for Christmas Pray that the recipients in those countries will use the funds wisely in their ministries.

INDIA: Continue to pray for the sale of the Mission/Conference land at Guindy. There have been several enquirers who have come very close to closing a deal and there are some more very interested enquirers right now. Pray especially for the Conference leadership as there are some who are putting persona, financial ambition ahead of what is best for the organisation.

THAILAND: ACMissioNZ is planning a Work/Ministry/English Teaching TEAM to go to Naratchakwai, North East Thailand in late December – early January 2012. Pray that the Lord will touch the hearts of those He wants to be part of that TEAM which will support John and Maeo’s ministries in several exciting ways. We are hoping that many Parent/Child duos/groups will join the TEAM

THAILAND: Please pray for Amporn, a teenage girl who committed her life to the Lord early in 2010. Her Buddhist parents have removed her from John and Maeo’s home where she was living in order to attend school and participate in a special English Program, and have forbidden her to be involved in Christian activities. Pray that Amporn’s faith and commitment will remain strong and that her parents will be touched by the Lord to both allow her to attend the Christian Mission Naratchakwai and to follow her in her faith.

MYANMAR: Praise the Lord for many village ministries to children being carried out by the Advent Christian Conference of Myanmar churches, and that in many cases numbers of children from Buddhist homes are attending. Pray that the Lord will touch the lives of some of these children to bring them to faith in Jesus Christ. Pray for safety for the AC workers who are carrying out these ministries.

MYANMAR: Continue to pray that true democracy may come for the people of Myanmar. Praise the Lord for our Advent Christian Conference leaders and their ministries. Pastor T recently commented “I would like you to know we are doing great things for His Church, … one day we can send missionaries to other countries. But now we need your prayer and support because of our country’s situation.”

Special Request for Prayer – 29 November 2010

Dear friends and prayer partners,

In my Update dated 19 November, I asked you to pray for a young lady named Amporn, who is one of the high school girls who are part of John and Maeo Middlewood’s team for teaching English at Naratchakwai, Nakhon Phanom, Thailand.

Amporn (pictured at right) committed her life to Jesus Christ earlier this year and expressed the wish to be baptised at a time when several other girls were to be baptised. Her parents and her mother particularly, would not give permission for her to be baptised as she (mother) claimed that she had already dedicated Amporn to the “spirits” when she was young. Amporn is one of the eight girls who are living at John and Maeo’s home and are being sponsored to attend an English Medium Programme at the local high school, and her commitment to the Lord and to His service have been very obvious in her life and in her involvement in the activities at the Christian Mission Naratchakwai and in particular in the English Teaching Teams which the Mission sends out to teach English in schools in the surrounding district.

With John Middlewood’s permission I set out below copies of emails I have received from him over the last week or so, which explain the situation which he is presently facing in regard to Amporn. [Read more...]

SSE Asia Prayer Points December 2010

INDIA: Please continue to pray for the sale of the land at Guindy for a
good price. Please pray especially that one very interested group – the
Prince Group – may decide to purchase the land. There would be a very
valuable financial benefit available to ACGC work worldwide if they were
the final purchaser!

INDIA: Please continue to pray for the 13 rebel pastors of the FBHC. Their
words and activities continue to indicate a truly evil influence in their
lives. Pray that the the Lord may turn them back to Himself. Pray
especially for the safety of Immanuel and Prabu Manuel who have recently
received serious death threats from one of the rebel leaders! [Read more...]

MYANMAR: November 7th the day of the first General Elections in Myanmar (Burma) for 20 years. MYANMAR: Praise the Lord for 37 new believers during an outreach trip to a northern State by one of our AC leaders. The Pastor asks us to pray that the new believers will “grow and delight in the Lord Jesus”. He also asks that we seek the Lord’s blessing on the 450 Gospel tracts he distributed to one ethnic group in the same area. [Read more...]

SSE Asia Prayer Points July 20th 2010

INDIA: Please continue to pray for what has developed into a major split within the Fellowship of Blessed Hope Churches. Pray for wisdom and patience for the new leaders elected late last month and for the 9 loyal pastors and 1 Bible Woman who remain. Pray that the 13 “rebels” might realise that what they are doing is bringing great dishonour to the Name of the Lord they purport to serve. Pray that their hearts and actions may be changed.

INDIA: The agreement between the Mission and the AC Conference concerning the sale of land at Guindy was signed in Colombo in early July and we are currently seeking the right buyer for the land. A very large sum is involved and a total cash transaction is needed. Please pray for the Lord’s wisdom for those involved in making the decision. [Read more...]
