PHILIPPINE UPDATE, AUGUST, 5TH, 2011

Greetings to all our supporters and friends of the Advent Christian work in the Philippines. We give thanks to God and to you for your continued faithfulness in prayer and other ways.

I have found communication with the Philippines somewhat difficult over recent weeks but I trust that this “Update” will help to keep you informed with what God is doing with our people there.

PASTOR ROY ROCHA, NOVALICHES, MANILA: Pastor Roy reports

Twice each week, Richard (my Intern) and I is teaching values among the students of Alternative Learning System (ALS). ALS is a government program for the out of school youth in Barangay Gulod, Quezon city. 60 youth are attending this program that we were able to led this group of students to Christ. 12 came to worship in our church and are now regularly attending. Bring the gospel of Christ to young men and women with different religious background, experiences, and ages seems not a problem when it is done according to God’s way and will.

Richard shared the word of God in one of my bible studies among  professionals in an establishment here at Quezon City.  Richard internship will be filled with different ministry experiences in an urban setting.

Indeed, working as a team make double impact for God’s glory [Read more...]

PHILIPPINE UPDATE, May 13th 2011

Greetings once again, to all our supporters and friends of the work in the Philippines.  We value your continued interest through prayer and finance.  Without this support from each of you some of the work may not be so effective.

PASTOR  JONATHAN NAVACILLA recently reported that he had conducted two baptisms,  one lady from the Umapad outreach and one from Banilad. There were to have been four baptised but in one family there was a death and in another a matter needing urgent attention.  At the time of writing the young people from Banilad, Cebu and from the churches on the islands of Bohol and Leyte have just concluded  their summer camp. The camp was held at Ubay, Bohol. Most of the organisation and running of the camp has fallen on Pastor Jonathan’s shoulders. [Read more...]

PHILIPPINE UPDATE,  APRIL 1ST 2011

Pastor Jonathan M. Navacilla, MA Th

Pastor Jonathan M. Navacilla, MA Th

Greetings to all our supporters and friends in the Name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour. Once again, as I write this update, I do so from the Philippines. It is a joy to be here again, renewing friendships and making new ones.

PASTOR JONATHAN NAVACILLA As soon as I landed in Cebu on March 15th I felt as if I was home! I was able to stay with one of my “Filipino sons”, Pastor Jonathan Navacilla, for eight days and during that time it was a real joy to be present at his graduation from CGST (Cebu Graduate School of Theology). Jonathan graduated MA in    Theology, Pastoral Studies (Cum Laude) which means his average marks were over 90% for the whole course. There have now been eight OBC former students who have continued their studies at CGST and who have done extremely well in their courses.  Seven have become lecturers at OBC and Pastor Jonathan will continue his studies at CGST in the coming year.    He seeks to be equipped to serve at OBC also, God willing.

Blessed Hope Christian Fellowship Church

It was also a pleasure for me to speak at both the morning and evening services at the Blessed Hope Christian Fellowship Church, where Jonathan is Pastor, on Sunday 20th March. The church building was full in the morning with enthusiastic people worshipping our Lord and Saviour.  Please pray for the congregation here as once again the church has been served with an eviction notice. A descendant of the original land owner wants his land back. It is not only the church which is affected but a whole block of homes and small businesses. The matter has been before the courts for some years now.

PASTOR RENIEL COMAJEG Last prayer meeting night(Feb 18th) we prayed for the safe arrival of Pastor Reniel and Felany’s baby. Unbeknown to us, because of a modern technological malfunction, we did not know that the baby had arrived earlier that day.  We can give thanks that Elisha Grant Comajeg arrived by a natural birth and not a “C section” as was expected. “Ishi” (Elisha’s nickname) spent several days in hospital but is now home enjoying the attention of his doting parents. The Newsletter for Jeff, Rhonda, Ben, Isaac, and Ethan Walsh  March 9, 2011

Greetings once again from Cagayan de Oro in the Philippines.  Thank you for your interest, prayers, love, and support for our family.  Thank you for being partners with us in the Lord’s ministry here in the Philippines.

OUR BIG SURPRISE!
In a few months we will no longer be the Walsh five but the Walsh six!  That’s right.  Rhonda is pregnant with our fourth child, due at the beginning of September.  At first we couldn’t believe it. We were not at all thinking or planning in this direction.  But now we are more and more looking forward to the arrival of our next little one.  The boys were very excited to learn the news, and immediately began picking out possible names!  We are thankful to the Lord for his good surprises!  “You are good, and what you do is good” (Psalm 119:68).  Rhonda has visited the doctor twice, and mother and baby are healthy (aside from the normal morning sickness). ORO BIBLE COLLEGE

Rev Jeff Walsh reports

“The church planting work is going on in the Buena Oro section of Cagayan de Oro. The fourth year and first year students are all involved directly in the church planting work.  The first year students, with their NSTP program, are going to Buena Oro every Saturday. They are conducting a feeding program as well as teaching Bible lessons to the local children. The fourth year students are attempting to canvas the neighborhoods and develop Bible study contacts.  As of today they have been able to form six weekly Bible study groups with a total of twenty-six persons attending.<
One parent (whose child was involved in the feeding program by the first year students) became very interested and is now attending one of the Bible studies.”

QUOTES FROM THE FOURTH YEAR STUDENTS:”They are thirsty for God’s word.”

“Our goal is to make disciples who will be disciplers.”

Grant’s Philippine Update September 2010

Dear Supporters and friends

Once again I thank God for you all and thank you for your continued support for the work in the Philippines.   May our God continue to bless you day by day.

ORO BIBLE COLLEGE. Over September 16 & 17th was the 40th Foundation Celebration for the college. The guest speaker was Pastor Pablito Molina who is the recently appointed Pastor of Maranatha Bible Church (next door to OBC). The theme was “God Reigns Over History”. As well the spiritual activities there were sports competitions and games between alumni and present students and plenty of time for renewing of friendships and sharing experiences. The Alumni association appointed the following people to be the new officers; Ptr. Pablito Molina is the President, Ptr. Jesse Gawangon is the Vice President , Reniel Comajeg is the Secretary, Margie Colot is the Treasurer and Billy Comahig is the new Publicity and Information Officer.  Mm Nely Gamayon wrote “the event was successful. The 40th foundation anniversary went very well, thanks to God for the strength, guidance and provision for the students, faculty and staff , and the alumni. Billy who is the coordinator for co-curricular and promotions did well in heading the program.
Although some of the alumni who attended the pastors’ retreat did not come back for foundation celebrations, still alumni attendance and cooperation was good.” [Read more...]

Grant’s Philippine Update August 2010

Greetings to all our supporters and friends in the Name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. We rely on you all for your support in prayer and financially. It is now over twenty years since the first work team went to the Philippines and you have been so faithful in your support over all these years. Thank you so much, daghan salamat.

ORO BIBLE COLLEGE. Mm Fe Mendoza reports  “It’s Monday morning, beautiful day that God has given to us, fresh air, renewed strength for the day. There are so many things that we can thank God for. The song says, count your many blessings name them one by one, it’s countless blessings.
We are all doing fine here at OBC as a whole, except for minor illness such as colds, a little cough, this is because of the weather it’s wet (rainy) season, almost every afternoon it rains, but no floods.  Next week will be our mid-term exam. Imagine how time runs so fast we’re already on the mid-year of the first semester. We don’t really have much activities for this month, except for the midterm exam, and also the class of Sir Jeff will be going for their activity in Indahag this coming Saturday, they will be working with our children there, doing some teaching and feeding program.
For September will have our annual Foundation Activity 16-17, and we are still on the process of working the program, Billy is now in charge of the the Co-Curricular Activity and Pastor Pablito Molina is our speaker, the present Pastor of Maranatha Cagayan.  Area of Concern, our Registrar’s Office needs a new computer, very slow already almost dead, Myriam is working in my office computer.” [Read more...]
